Caleb Salgado is an American experimental musician, bassist and multi-instrumentalist.

He performs regularly with ensemble proton bern, Manufaktur für aktuelle Musik, Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, Ensemble Garage, soundinitiative, the Lucerne Festival Academy, and is a guest with Ensemble Intercontemporain, Musik Fabrik, Asko|Schönberg Ensemble, the Netherlands Philharmonic, et al.

Releases on col legno, wergo, accentus. klarthe/harmonia mundi. Texts appear in SAND Zeitschrift (5/7).

Solo performances and as a collaborator in France, Germany, Spain, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, and North America, working with composers and conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös, Helmut Lachenmann, Pierluigi Billone, Heinz Holliger, Mark Andre, Chaya Czernowin, George Benjamin, György Kurtág, Michael Wertmüller.

Festival appearances include the Lucerne Festival, Donaueschingen Musiktage, musica viva, Acht Brücken Festival, MITO, the Darmstadt Ferienkurse, the IMPULS Festival Graz, Podium Festival, Davos Festival, ReWire Festival, as well as residencies at Akademie der Künst (Berlin) and the Cité internationale des Arts (Paris).

He studied double bass with Matthew McDonald (Berliner Philharmoniker), Robert Black (Bang On A Can), and Gary Karr. Studies in literary theory, comparative literature, and philosophy at the Ecole normale supérieure (Paris), Freie Universität Berlin, Hartt School of Music (USA) and the University of Victoria (British Columbia).
